Raja Hammers Nikolay Davydenko to Earn Qatar Crown

World Second ranked Roger Federer won the Qatar ExxonMobil Open trophy defeating former champ Nikolay Davydenko 63, 64 in the title match of the ATP TOUR
event in Doha.

The Swiss player seized the crown for the third time, following consecutive wins in ‘05 and ‘06, making Fed the lone three-time victor in event. The triumph marked 67 ATP victories for Federer, who obtained 250 Computer points plus $177, 000 in cash.

In addition, the triumph in Qatar offers Raja the best in planning for the Australian, which begins in the near future. The Basel native is the defending champ in Melbourne as he looks for a 17th Major singles title.

The second seeded Roger was tough on service this week, only getting broken one time in 42 serve games to advance to the title match, and was just as remarkable against Nikolay. Roger did not encounter a break point and won 79 percent of points behind his first serve.

Federer made a speedy start to the contest, leaping to a 3-0 cushion ahead of ending out the opening set on service. Davydenko was forced to create close to his best tennis to stay in the game with Fed in the set two, but his resistance collasped in the ninth game as Fed broke at love before wrapping up the win in 79 minutes. Federer is now 23-3 at the tourney.

And so Federer triumphs! Wonderful news!
